Furniture First added Tanger’s Furniture of Bellefontaine, Ohio to its membership ranks last month.
Founded in 1946, Tanger’s Furniture was purchased by Brian Osterfeld in 2016. Osterfeld brought his experience growing up in a family furniture store, as well as his experience in middle management for La-Z-Boy’s retail division, to the venture. He and his wife, Mandy, have steadily grown the business every year and are planning a second location that will open later this year.
“Over the years we have seen members join shortly after the next generation takes over the family business or goes out on their own,” said Andrew Kauffman, CEO of Furniture First. “There is a lot of attrition in the industry as the current population of owners retires, but more and more we are seeing younger generations moving into leadership and ownership. Many times the new generation sees the benefits membership in our group has to offer, not the least of which is networking. Our members have a fellowship of store owners that are experiencing the same challenges that they can turn to for insight and advice.”
Tanger’s Furniture will be among the new members attending an orientation session in conjunction with Furniture First’s symposium May 23 – 25, 2022 at Omni Orlando Resort at Championsgate. The 2022 symposium will be the first since before the pandemic. Furniture First expects attendance to exceed 300.
